I thought I had a synopsis already made. What became of it? I found two truncated pieces of a synopsis -- dog, I hope that wasn't what I sent to the agent that turned me down. It turns out to be much easier to finish a synopsis than to start one. I incorporated it into the cover letter, which I understand I oughtn't, but it's so much more streamlined this way, and cover letters are pretty daunting otherwise -- what the hell do you say? "Here's the first 3 chapters you requested" -- translation: requested means allowed as how it might not be too much of an imposition to read the thing. Now you have this immense blank sheet of paper -- a tree sacrificed for what? There's no reason to fill up that space with a biography unless they asked for it, right? And I don't have credits to speak of. So instead of starting over on a new sheet of paper to commence the synopsis, I just stuck it in.

So I made the package up, and while I was at it I polished the first three chapters some more. Well, I had to look at it closely to make sure there wasn't any stupidity in it, didn't I? Corrupted files? Missing bits? Hard rights all over the place in the middles of lines? Wandering margins? And while I was at it, I realized that there were several sentences that needed tweaking. Or at least that could use them.

Now it's printed, and I have done nothing much else, and I promised myself that by the time the nice fellow had come home I would have done something towards getting a job. And I have a half hour. So before getting the package mailed and getting our 2003 tax return copied for Emma's scholarship applications, I will make a special resume just for tutoring jobs. Then I will have done something.
