The nice fellow has convinced me that this chapter has to have an excursion to world stock exchanges, another damned thing for me to have to go learn about.
So I've left a place holder for revision and I'm moving on. And now all of a sudden the Boss, who was oblivious, I thought, to the consciousness of my guy, instead investigating his consciousness. I figure though that the Boss' one big vice is greed, and once he really gets involved in wishing for stuff he's going to lose sight of his scientific curiosity, to some degree anyway.
Last night I was going to work on more outlining, but I couldn't find the right notebook. I ended up taking the notebook for a different book, one which I may not actually write because it's sooo self-indulgent: a gay romantic hard science fiction with weird social systems and institutionalized inequality. Oh, and teen angst. But I had lots of fun working on the notes for it and came to the conclusion that I need to learn a lot more about materials, particularly molecular lattices, and also n-dimensional geometry, to write this one, if it's going to be more than a love story. How much do I know about these? How close can you get to nothing without actually being nothing? But it can't be a love story, because the guy doesn't end up with the beloved.
