Something odd when I sat down to write again. First of all, I really had every move worked out for the next two chapters. But when I got to describing the baile, it turned out it was a Mexican Students Association dance, and that Araceli was there. And Candelario met her. And so the rest of the chapter turned out to be stuff I thought was going to happen four months later (in story chronology) in the next chapter, and after Candelario's wish. But it's good. It gives a better reason to move out of Salinas to Watsonville where Araceli lives, and I had a moment when Araceli first sees our guy, that she notices something about him, but doesn't say anything. All our guy notices is that she looks at him funny.
Anyway, Chapter 20 is done, after, oh dog, a month? and tomorrow I will start Chapter 21, with a good reason for the move and the wish and everything. It looks like they're moving to Watsonville in January, though, instead of in the spring, so I guess Candelario will have to start out pruning things.
Now -- grout grout grout.
