So the sad thing I read last night is they have to dismantle Florida's huge artificial reef made of old tires, because it didn't work. Nothing lives in it. It's really, really, sad, if you think about it. It was a large good-faith effort to support the ocean's recovery and deal with human waste, and it didn't work.

Do any of my fine readers know how to tweak Winamp so that it regulates the volume of music so that it stays in a similar range no matter how loud or quiet the original recording is? I've got a bunch of things on shuffle that vary wildly so I'm always having to adjust the volume. The Almeda Riddle "Mary Hamilton" is, for example, much quieter than the next thing that came on (circus music played on a steam organ???) and the Dalmation polka medley that's on now is somewhere between the two.

I have a new graphics card, and now I don't have to worry about the screen going scritchy on me. The worst part of the scritchy is that it was also totally unresponsive and the computer couldn't even be turned off except by unplugging it. But no more! I think I could even play Sims 2 now.

I'm writing the attack novel (which is becoming more comedic as I go along, fortunately) with little headings as to the day of the week as I go along. But I think I will remove them when I'm done. I think they're just scaffolding to keep pacing okay and keep me from getting too confused.

time to go to babyland.
