Peeking into the rock

I'm glad to hear the Bonny Doon fire is getting contained, and hope the others are soon!

A couple of nights ago, I was leaving tiger_spot's and looked up and the moon was pumpkin-orange. And, when I turned on my bike light, I could see that it was faintly snowing -- little tiny flecks of ash, just large enough to show up in the light beam (and to catch one of the bigger ones on my thumbnail, carefully), about a half-dozen at a time in the beam. It was a little surreal -- especially since, unlike the last round of fires, there wasn't any woodsmoke smell.
