You forgot the things which weren't supposed to happen, but did. The US and the Soviet Union combining to dominate Earth and Space -- gone. And pity the last few writers to submit novels about WW III between the US and USSR. All those smoke-filled conferences on starships -- gone.
On a different note: We can't write about a future in which the first child is born in Antarctica, because that child was born decades ago. (The Argentines flew in a very pregnant woman.)
