So, I registered for potlatch

And now I have to come up with a new, self-contained story under 5000 words by January 31st. But -- I whine! I moan! I'm a novelist! My shorts have all been failures!!

But I have some ideas I'm kicking around for other reasons, and I will see what I can do with them. Climate change and secession, maybe, and maybe something about trying to get an education. I've listened to a couple of conversations I have in my head, but nothing compelling yet.

Maybe one of those Werewolves of God things.

At least you write to novel length. Unlike some of us, who compound our probelms by writing weird cross-genre things at weird lengths. :-)

Not sure at this point if I'm going to make it to Potlatch, but sounds interesting.

I used to write novellas, too, but there was always something missing from mine until I realized that they ought to be novels.

BUT. I really would like to see the renaissance of the novella. Novellas are good. They are fun to read, more satisfying than shorts, more manageable than novels.
