I haven't noticed any particular slowing down. On the other hand, I did go broadband shortly after I installed it. I did have a hard time persuading it that it was OK to open my own PDF file from an HTML document that I wrote myself on my own hard drive, though. Have you tried Mozilla FireFox? I've been very happy with that so far.
