I could have sworn it was more -- the story is up to 1600+.

The thing is. If you start writing a story and it keeps insisting that it's a present-tense story, and you sit back and look at it and agree that it is in fact a present-tense story, why then should you keep lapsing into story past?

And does that mean that the story was wrong about what tense it is? I don't think so, because the lapses look wrong and the present tense parts look right.

The story does want to be a novel, but there's not enough of it there to be a novel and I promised myself to write a story. I had to abandon "Tasmanian Flower Basket" again, but someday I will find out how to write it properly. I vow this. And this I know I can write.

It's another good-bureaucrat story. I guess I have some things on my mind.
