According to this BBC article, the US is getting criticism for its protesting crowd-handling behavior from Egypt, Iran and China.

I don't see why it wouldn't be real. I could see those countries being very fed up with the US's holier than thou attitude and have therefore pounced on a situation where they can return the criticism.
