Unfortunately, the story isn't much about them. Maybe I can think of a different story that's more about them and write that someday.
I'm quitting now -- 1939 words. I'm stopping because I realized that I can't, actually, finish the chapter today, and so I may as well save a good bit to start with in the morning. And the dishes await.
Grace Paley said you don't hear about drunken women authors as much as drunken men authors because women are never at a loss for what to do in the afternoons. I don't do most of the things you're supposed to -- I'm a lousy housekeeper -- but the principle holds. There's always something to do.
