When I had my carpal tunnel release I had the minimum local anasthesia and the surgeon gave me back my glasses and also gave me a running commentary when he realized I was interested. That was okay. When I had my abcessing wisdom tooth out it was under a local. When I had the upper tooth out over there it was under a local, and spontaneous, because the dentist (a wonderful man, a reader of sf and half Borg)just figured he might be able to do it.
But this surgeon was just so sure that it would be much better with me out that I decided to give it to him. I don't know if I did the right thing for me, though.
I like to be conscious, which might be why I'm still up at 1:00.
