Yesterday I spent too much time on Sim City.
I've been reading Iceland's Bell by Halldor Laxness, the Icelander who wrote Independent People, which is one of the grimmest books I've ever read. But Iceland's Bell is grim humor, like The Good Soldier Schweik. It certainly makes me, anyway, hate mercantile capitalism with a renewed vigor. It also makes me wonder if Independent People was also grim humor and I just didn't get the joke. Maybe an Icelander could tell me.
