So I was trying to figure out why I keep getting friended by people half my age (and younger), and I figured out that the latest is Miguel, who is the semi-sane friend of my son. This is awkward: but don't go away, Miguel, you and I both know that Awkward is your Forte. I am Not Dismayed.

If I say anything in here that embarrasses you for any reason, it's your own damned fault and I am not responsible, okay? If I say anything in here that embarrasses Frank, well, you probably won't see it, because I have a grownups filter for stuff I don't want my children or their friends to read.

So there.

Oh, and the Firefox on the computer I have to use at Gloria's saves every subject line I've ever used in lj or email and helpfully suggests that I might want to use them to head this entry. "about Lark and Sacteren's ending:" "Another pernicious movie:" "Fw: Another Tome Question:" "My footprint:" "distances:" "Gloat. impulse buy:" "Okay, another:" and two chicken lady headers.

Seriously, why is Firefox so stupid? It's supposed to be our savior from Internet Explorer.

I'm glad I make you uncomfortable.

Hah! You do not make me uncomfortable! Awkward is Okey-dokey!

Just don't say I didn't warn you.

Perhaps you bring it on yourself? After all, you have to have noticed that Miguel is three years older than I am, and you friended me first.

Yeah, but you wrote the Stent's Crossing stories and you're using your journal to work on your stories, and there you were commenting on Matt Paz Castillo's journal . . .

it had to happen.

I think the interesting thing is that Miguel is, well, Miguel. He falls into the category of "people I first knew as friends of my children" which makes him almost definitionally the equivalent of my child, even though I've only ever known him as at least mostly an adult (how old, M? 20? No, it had to be longer ago than that because you've been in Portland at least two years)

Nobody said you weren't a smart child. When did you start hanging out with Frank? It was a while back, wasn't it?

When do you think you'll be finished with the doctorate? And then what's next?
