I haven't written yet. But I have shopped, and walked the dog, and I have read more about Judas. Also known as St. Simon Judas. Here it is -- the figure who grants wishes, good and bad. You give him food and whiskey and cigars, and you burn the right color of candle, and you pray, and the prayer is really wild. And he does what you want.

I can almost see how this will be useful to me. I may, just for simplicity, make the family not Mixtec but Quiché, which would mean they are a Guatemalan family in a Mexican neighborhood, which happens all the time, and I have to change Citlali's name, probably to something Spanish. Citlali isn't Mixtec anyway, it's Nahautl, but as long as Citlali was from Mexico I could argue that it wasn't strange for her to have a Nahautl name.

I'm thinking out a story for the anthology "20 Epics." I know how it starts, and a bit from the middle, and some of how it ends. It will be the first short story I have tried in a long time. I have not dropped fluff: I will bring it back when I need it.

And 3107 words total in Chapter 23, and a better place to stop it than I had before.

Things do keep happening at a different rate than I expect. He knows how to read now, sooner than I thought he would, but that's good, because there are more consequences to it than I thought.
