So. Yesterday was esconcing Emma in her dorm room. Sort of. We dropped off three containers full of stuff and then she went off to Pokeville, where she acquired much Pokestuff, most of which was freely given by Nintendo in an apparently successful drive to develop and maintain brand loyalty. Frank also went, dressed as whatshisname from Team Rocket -- the only one in a vanload of Santa Cruz Pokemon advocates to wear a costume -- and apparently was approached by many who thought he was staff, including small children who wanted him to tell them things he didn't know. He acquired Pokestuff too, which is silly, since hours later, he had to ditch it all and fly away.
Then we took them to the restaurant called Costa Brava where I had some "house-cured salmon" which was kind of gelid and too sweet and I didn't like it. It was supposed to be flavored with juniper but it mostly tasted of sugar. On the other hand, the cream of mostly spinach soup was very very nice.
And today -- at four in the morning, not three, because he left from San Jose and not San Francisco -- I sent my boy off to Montgomery. And now: we have an empty nest. Kind of. For the time being. We're taking things in hand. Cleaning, rearranging.
I'm going to get all inarticulate now.
On other fronts, there were buds on the coyote bushes in Watsonville, which is like three months too early.
