Shall I tell you what I did? I shall. I shall tell you the thing I just totally did and it wasn't really even hard though it was slow and I do creak a bit.
I walked a mile is what I did. All around the perimeter of Neary Lagoon. A level mile is what I walked.
A non-level mile is yet in the future, however.
Let me be the first person to say: a mile is nowhere near as long as people think it it is. It's just a few blocks, really.
But for Day 21 Post-Surgery, it is not prodigious but very very good. It's a milestone held up by my surgeon ("You need the TED stockings until you can walk a mile"). I'm still wearing the stockings because my legs swell a bit without them and it's just more comfy with them on for now.
My other milestone is no more pain meds. Monday night's bedtime dose was the last one. Yesterday I thought: "Wait...I'm only taking these to sleep, and not for pain...but I'm still not sleeping...maybe they're adding to the problem instead of helping it?"
Results are inconclusive: I slept a wee bit more last night but still not enough.
Also, I have a new story in my head and I am going to write now.
