something that shouldn't taste good

Maybe I've become warped. This was my breakfast: a bowl of cut cabbage with extra sharp cheddar cheese on it and miso dressing.

I want to make some more right now.

Have you been taking vitamins?

Part of "pregnancy" foods, those off the wall combinations of cravings that shouldn't come together but somehow do at the time, stems from deficiencies in certain vitamin groups. Your body figures out what it needs, and then demands it, anyway it knows how to get it.

In this instance, you have two different protein sources and an anti-inflammatory. Didn't you say you were having trouble with arthritis lately?

Nope, not arthritis: though I do have some inflammation issues. My tendons seem to be vulnerable, though lately, as long as I do my exercises, I seem to be okay.

I think what's going on is that I have developed an inordinate taste for raw cabbage in every iteration I can think of because it's one of the easiest things for me to eat, given that I can't knock off a piece of toast. The miso is sweet, and the cheese is pungent and salty -- but the sweet and salt do not add up to much in the scale of things, so I can have them.

I did have more cabbage salad with cheese later and I loved it again.
