If I had medical benefits of my own -- and if I made enough money of my own -- I wouldn't have to think about this crap. But I don't, and I don't, and so I do.

It's apparently up the office of the president (of the University) to determine whether I get the really nice bundle or the not so nice bundle. The nice fellow's 5-year anniversary with the University was September first, adn he died on August nineteenth. However, he had over three hundred hours of sick pay accumulated, and if they add that it, which I think they would do if he had retired instead of dying, I'm in clover. Otherwise, I'm in something far less pleasant.

He fed the University for thirty-four years. The University contracted out the kitchens for most of that time, though, and they apparently didn't translate his service to "University Service Credit" when they took the kitchens over.

This is not even why he was on strike last month: it's just another random manifestation of unfairness.

In my past experiences with these things the president normally does go for the generous option in cases of death, so I'll hope for the best your case as well Lucy. I hope that they choose to make your life easier.

If they don't accept the sick leave I'd say it is time to get a lawyer. I hope they do though so you don't have to go through that.

May they be led by their hearts and not their spreadsheets.

Good luck. If they don't do the right thing at first, keep at 'em.

I hope you manage to get the generous option without having to haggle.

I hope he does the right thing, but if he doesn't, see about a lawyer.
