Sometimes I like to amuse myself by clicking sort of randomly around in You Tube.  One thing I have noticed is that if my starting point is Central/Eastern/Southern European dance music, sooner or later I will end up with the litle Romanian girl, Cleopatra, at the top of the queue.  I know I've mentioned this before.

As of tonight I am going to keep score whenever this happens.  How many random jumps until I am faced with a toddler in a Marilyn Monroe outfit wandering around bus and train stations with a suitcase as big as she is, singing about how Ghita is not there?

Well, tonight it was eleven hops.  Now that seems like a lot to me, since I started out looking for a song that basically means "Romanian Girl," that is, "Made in Romania." (the title is in Romanian and is not a cognate to the English words it looks like).  Some other time I will find out if it takes more if I start with a Serbian dance song, or whatever.  Maybe I should also make some rules about hopping, instead of just going to whatever looks interesting.

I didn't find the song I was looking for but I fiound a lot of other weird stuff.  Mostly Romanian music videos with comically incompetent rural swains and their improbably decked-out paramours.   (that first one has the same tune as "Levan Polkka," the infamous Finnish song that goes with the anime leek-spinner Loituma Girl)

The music videos look a lot like Sabado Gigante routines, actually.
