So I have to wait for about three weeks total to get my new lens because of insurance elgibility and stuff -- the difference being one lens will cost me $49 if I play ball and wait till Monday or $340 if I order it now. But I'm desperate to use the computer and stuff -- I found a crochet hook that I can use while I was getting Emma her Xmas present -- so I stopped at the drug store to get a pair of over the counter reading glasses. At first I was amazed, befuddled, and depressed, because none of them seemed to work. Then I tried putting them on over my emergency driving glasses. Now I am carrying the reading glasses around on a chain and wearing both pair most of the time which makes me look like a goofus.
But I can see.
Which means I will in fact be finishing the package for The Conduit not tomorrow, but Thursday, right after I go back for a retake of my mammogram, which I am absolutely certain is due to having great unwieldy lumps to look at and not something dread and unmentionable.
Right now, I should be in bed, or failing that, cleaning. In spite of the fact that I have had to watch two versions of Pride and Prejudice this last week and I can't help thinking that all these mundane details ought to be taken care of by someone else while I have the flutters and vapors and stuff.
