Pyrophone -- an instrument in which flames cause vibrations in glass tubes.

Symphonia-- ah, who knows?

Glassichord -- different from the glass harmonica in that it is played like a spinet and little hammers hit glass rods.

Marimbaphone -- which could be used with a bow.

Lithophone -- yes, a xylophone made of rocks.

Crotales -- little bowed cymbals.

Pianino. Three octaves of tuned glass pipes with a keyboard. Small. The Victoria & Albert seemed a little puzzled. They speculate that the instrument gave pitches to choirs, perhaps.

I was impressed by the rest of the V&A set but flickr won't let me comment. They don't recognize my own account (which I have not accessed in a long time), and when I try to comment via google it seems they will not post the comment till I sign up for a new account.

Oh well.

Lovely. Every so often, it's more problems from flickr. Usually it's that people are denied permission to even look at my "public: show to everybody" photosets. This is a new one on me.

They're owned by Yahoo! now. Do you have a Yahoo! address? It's my oldest working e-mail address, which I originally signed up (free) for in order to have an address to use when I have to give one to sign up for stuff. It gets spam.

I'm glad that I snapped and snapped while we were at the V&A. It didn't take too long for Sarah (not yet two) to get pretty tired of it all, and walking fast while taking many pictures let me 'see' a good deal more than I'd have been able to on what is, so far, the only trip I've made to that museum.
