I believe that the death toll is now over 1000, though a woman was rescued alive yesterday after being trapped for 17 days.

The problem, as I understand it, is that the big clothing firms take out contracts with suppliers in the country and they inspect their factories and impose standards, but then the suppliers sub-contract and that's where the corners get cut.

i'm not sure that taking jobs away from the bangladeshis is helpful.
