Well, I thought I had the right ending for the story. Kind of sad, kind of a downer, just a little story about not being able to solve a criminal problem with a crime. Suddenly at the last minute -- I was going to mail the damned thing today -- it's getting this adventure ending and I can't back off from it without being really really stupid. Which also means that I need at least one more scene after the one I thought would be my last and I promised my friend I'd go to Xi Gong class with her in less than an hour which means I have to stop NOW and take a quick bath and change my clothes and get the hell out of here and when I get back it will only be a short time before the last mail pickup but there isn't a firm deadline on this, they just said they expected to have the manuscripts by now.

Ick. Oh well. I think the story's okay though. I'm still unsure that the way it addresses the questions of the theme are apparent to the reader.
