Season for:
Tomato chutney. Lemon marmalade. Fruitcake. "chili" sauce (bumpy catsup, but "chili sauce" is its traditional name. Soon there will be boletes (porcini mushrooms) to dry.
The persimmons that my friend Carl wished on me are still not ripe, anyway. Because when they do come ripe either I get to dry them or I get to give them away.
And yes, November is tomato product season around here.
Oh, and one more note about food:
Low-glycemic squash yummy: bake and squish a sweet sweet squash -- kabocha in this case, but a pumpkin or acorn or delicata would be fine, although your delicata is small and you need a bunch of them. For say three cups of squished squash you add three eggs and say half a cup of half and half. Mix mix mix till it's smooth and pretty. Dump in a baking thing. Sprinkle with the least amount of sugar you think tolerable -- a couple tablespoons will do it easily. Also sprinkle it with crushed nuts and tiny slivers of candied ginger. Bake until set -- an hour? -- in a moderate oven.
I am about to taste a version where the squash was not big enough and I added two apples boiled and smashed.
On another front, my brother has another rescue Neopolitan mastiff. She's all silvery and her name is Violet. She came from the fire and she is very skinny but I don't suppose she will be long.
And I am done! with Thanksgiving. Four of them.
