The last time I was in this position it was a professional venue holding a book for four years before rejecting it and I had a kind of a nervous breakdown and stopped submitting  to professional venues for several precious years. I'm not doing that this time: I don't have any more precious years to waste being neurotic about somebody else's handling of my work.

So online professional venue I won't name says they promise an answer in three months, and naturally it's been four and a bit. So: do I send the story on today, or wait a couple more weeks because four months isn't that much longer than three?

But it is that much longer than three months, so I think I just answered my own question. Well, online professional venue, I'm giving up on you. A yes answer would have been excellent, but any answer would have sufficed.

ETA:Oh hell. Just reread their submissions information. Now they're saying if four months have passed you can expect it to take seven months and please don't ask about it for nine months.

I don't know. I'm getting a copy formatted for a different venue, but I'll think about it overnight.
