Yesterday was kind of coldish. Today was balmy. The grass is over my toes. The ceanothus in my backyard is blooming full force, but to be fair it's been doing that since a couple weeks after the equinox. The dogs at Lighthouse Field were in full Spring mode -- leaping, running, thoroughly enjoying themselves, digging for gophers.
I swear Spring comes earlier every year.
Remember how last Spring I was all freaked out because I didn't see any flocks? Well, I guess I just got the timing of pairing and flocking wrong, because they're sure flocking now. Not big big flocks, but flocks.

Well, Spring at the lower elevations, apparently -- I was at Gray Whale Ranch yesterday, and it was cold. And no cynoglossum (dog's-tongue or native forget-me-not), and no craterellus(black chanterelle or black trumpet mushroom). I think I called it too soon, anyway -- the dogs think it's Spring, but the wild radishes and acacias don't, and I think I'd trust the flowers before the domestic animals.
